What is a Tincture & How do I use it?
Tinctures are concentrated liquid herbal extracts that are taken orally. They are usually extracted in alcohol, they can also be extracted in vegetable glycerine or apple cider vinegar.
Tinctures are easy and convenient to use. Tinctures can be given to children. They only have to take small amounts (3-5 drops per dose) Whereas adults take a larger dose (1-3 droppersfull).
If taken directly under the tongue, they enter the bloodstream much more quickly and directly than by capsule, oil, or otherwise. Some herbs will have an immediate effect, such as Valerian which is used to help one relax, others that reduce inflammation may take several weeks of use before results are seen.
